Tips For Flawless Skin

Posted on March 18, 2015 by AUTHOR (edit in theme settings)

Healthy, glowing skin is the key to looking beautiful. Proper skin care can help you to avoid premature wrinkling, facial lines, age spots and skin discoloration. Read on to learn what it takes to have a flawless complexion.

Many people age earlier than they should and develop unnecessary wrinkles because they fail to protect their skin from the sun. Shielding your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays when you are young will help to prevent you from developing wrinkles when you reach middle age. On particularly sunny days avoid going outdoors during the peak sun hours of 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and wear sunglasses and a hat for added sun protection. Never use tanning beds, as this will cause serious wrinkling and put you at risk for developing life threatening skin cancer. If you like the way you look with a tan but want to avoid wrinkles, try using a spray tan. Spray tans look just as good as real tans do and will not harm your skin.

Smoking cigarettes cause severe wrinkling and can give your complexion an unhealthy, gray color. If you are a smoker and care about the way your skin looks, you must give up the habit as quickly as possible. Look at photos of people who have smoked their entire lives and you will see just how much damage cigarette smoking does to skin.

Wash your face twice per day with a high-quality, non-comedogenic cleanser. Do not make the mistake of over-washing your skin. Cleansing your face two times a day is perfect. Exfoliate your skin on a regular basis to get rid of dead skin and reveal the new, fresh skin underneath. If you have dry skin, use a good moisturizing cream to keep your skin soft and supple.

Drink plenty of fresh water to keep your skin properly hydrated - at least 6-8 glasses per day. Water is great for your overall health and will help to keep your skin properly moisturized and free of wrinkles.

Don't take super hot showers. Exposing your skin to water that is too hot can irritate your skin and dry it out by. Wash your face with lukewarm or slightly cool water.

Eat healthy - plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid greasy fried foods. Fermented foods like sauerkraut and yogurt are also good for digestion and for the skin. You can now find alternatives to dairy yogurts made from soy or coconut milk.

The tips above will allow you to keep your skin looking great, no matter your age.

Eight Great Tips To Alleviate Dry Skin

Posted on March 16, 2015 by AUTHOR (edit in theme settings)
Anyone who's experienced dry skin knows how uncomfortable and irritating it can be. Add to that the fact that wrinkles appear more quickly on dry skin and you have some good reasons to give it all the help you can. These tips will help your skin stay moisturized and feel better.

Hot water is the enemy of dry skin so use warm water for your showers. Hot water will draw the oil out of your skin so do not use it for bathing or washing your face. If you want to soak in the tub, use some bath oil or bath salts to add moisture to your skin.

Use a good moisturizer as often as necessary to keep your skin feeling soft and supple. Many times oil based moisturizers work best for a dry skin problem but you may not want to use oil on your face if you are prone to break out. A good facial moisturizer is probably the best choice for your face but olive or coconut based moisturizers can be applied to the rest of your body.

If you want to use an exfoliator be sure to find one that is gentle. While weekly exfoliation can reveal new and healthy skin beneath a layer of dull and dry skin cells, you should probably limit its use to no more than once each week.

The sun can do more damage to your skin than anything else. Use a good sunscreen and avoid the hottest part of the day. Shade your face if at all possible. You may think a tan makes your skin look healthy and beautiful and it does for a while. There is permanent damage being done though and it will show up after a few years go by.

If you live in a cold climate, it may be helpful to run a humidifier in your room during cold months when it is necessary to heat your home. Most heating systems produce a dry heat that can make your skin especially dry.

Do not use harsh soaps that strip the moisture out of your skin. Look for soaps that are cream or oil based. Other choices for your shower might be cleansing gels or lotions with moisture included as part of the ingredients.

Healthy skin benefits from good nutrition and you should make sure to include an omega-3 as part of your daily vitamin and mineral supplements. Or from food, eat more raw nuts and seeds like hemp, flax or chia seeds. Many times skin is dry or unhealthy because you may be missing the building blocks it needs.

Coconut oil has been used by the Polynesian women for centuries, and they have beautiful skin and hair. In recent years the product has become available nearly everywhere, and it is used as an ingredient in many skin softening products. You can also use it on your skin in the pure form and it is very effective at relieving dry skin.

There are many other excellent body oils such as cocoa butter and shea butter that can even help with cracked skin on hands and feet.

When your skin is dry, you're not looking your very best. However, you do not have to live with dry skin when you have these great tips to prevent it.
